Nazareth Hospital Receives PCI Program Accreditation from Corazon
PCI, also known as coronary angioplasty, is a nonsurgical procedure that improves blood flow to the heart through cardiac catheterization. PCI may be used to relieve symptoms of coronary heart disease or to reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack.
Through a rigorous process, the accreditation proves the PCI program at Nazareth Hospital has met or exceeded requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Requirements for the accreditation include providing 24-hour coverage for PCI emergencies and undergoing detailed quarterly quality reviews.
“We are honored to receive the PCI program reaccreditation recognizing our team’s hard work and dedication,” said Dr. Ed O’Dell, chief medical officer for Nazareth Hospital. “The accreditation demonstrates Nazareth’s commitment to providing the highest quality emergency heart care to our community.”
Corazon offers consulting, recruitment, interim management and IT solutions for the heart, vascular, neuroscience and orthopedic specialties. Corazon has worked with over 500 hospitals nationally to evaluate, re-engineer or implement best-practice PCI programs. Corazon is a longtime champion for PCI with open heart surgery off-site and assisted with the opening of the first PCI program of this type in Pennsylvania.
