Dr. Skenderi Speaks to Chamber Members at Nazareth

Northeast Philadelphia (October 24, 2018): On Tuesday, October 23, Nazareth Hospital hosted a breakfast for the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce featuring speaker Sonela Skenderi, DO, FACC, of Mercy Cardiology at Nazareth Hospital. Dr. Skenderi spoke about preventing and managing cardiotoxicity in patients with cancer using new 3-D echocardiography technology, now available at Nazareth Hospital.

“It’s unusual to see this technology in a community hospital setting – it’s more what you might find in an academic medical center,” explained Dr. Skenderi. “And it speaks to the Nazareth’s commitment to providing our patient with access to advanced technology. Our highly trained and skilled techs use the 3-D echo to develop crisper images from which to work. Using this technology to monitor patients at risk for cardiac problems related to chemotherapy allows us to intervene earlier. But the 3-D echo isn’t just limited to use for patients with cancer.”
